W.H.Y. Announces Fourth Leadership Development Cohort

As part of WHY (Work.Harmony.You.), SCHA's initiative to transform the healthcare workforce experience, we are excited to offer our fourth leadership development series starting in August 2025! A recent report from the American Organization for Nursing Leadership found that nurse manager turnover is highest during the first four years of leadership, revealing a critical window for leader support and investment. According to our Workforce Experience Survey, 80.9% of respondents said their hospital provides opportunities for professional development, yet only 41.8% said they are given opportunities for leadership development. To date, 69 hospital leaders have participated in SCHA’s leadership development series for mid-level managers called WHY We Lead.

• 100% rated the program as good or excellent, and

• 100% said the program was effective in contributing to their skills and knowledge base.

“The program taught me to believe in my vision and that leading is a passion that comes from within and if carried out with values, integrity, honesty and compassion, the journey of leading will be effective and impactful.”
- Renuka Rosario, Administrative Supervisor, Midlands Regional Rehab Hospital

“I cannot thank you enough for organizing and creating the WHY We Lead program! I feel so energized and I’m grateful for your encouragement, wisdom and dedication to helping leaders in healthcare!
- Sara Johnson, Director of Case Management, Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Columbia
